Bird Died--At his home, three miles east of Westfield, May 13, 1892, N. H. Bird, after a lingering illness of many months. Mr. Bird was born in Madison Co, KY Feb 3rd 1820 where he spent the early part of his life. He united with the Presbyterian Church, Jan 14, 1870 and lived a consistent and faithful christian life. None knew him but to esteem him as an honest and upright friend and neighbor and a kind indulgent husband and father. He leaves an aged companian, three sons, five daughters and a host of grand-children to mourn his loss. May his descendents so strive to follow his example, that his influence may shine brighter and brighter even to the end of the race. There is a vacant chair by our fireside A voice we loved is still, But cease to mourn dear brothers and sisters For it was our Masters will. Yes, our Master has delivered dear father From all care, affliction and pain, From this life's trials and sorrows, A blest eternity to gain. No more will we list for his footsteps, No more his coming await, For father has entered the kingdom And awaits at the golden gate. Then let us cease our weeping, As the sad story we tell; How father left our dear fireside, And is now where "all is well."
