Pennel Baker 6 February 1918, Clark County (IL) Democrat Polly A., daughter of Clark and Harriet Pennel was born August 9, 1840 in Belmont Co, Ohio. At 14 years of age, she moved with her parents to Woodsfield, Monroe Co, Ohio, where in May 20, 1858 she was united in marriage to Henry Baker. Here two daughters were born; Mary, now Mrs. George Morgan of near Auburn and Sarah Jane, who married William Murphy and died in 1896. In 1861 Mr. and Mrs. Baker with their two little daughters came to Illinois settling on a farm near Auburn, where another daughter, Clarissa, now Mrs. Wallace Read of Parkin, Ark, was born. She leaves her two daughters, Mrs. Mary Morgan and Mrs. Clarissa Read, two brothers, Vern Pennel of Humboldt, Ill, Jorn Pennel of Missouri and one sister Mrs. Margaret Wortman of Terre Haute, Ind. There are 23 grand children and 28 great grand children, besides many friends to mourn her departure. The funeral and burial were at Auburn Monday, Feb. 4, Rev. C. W. Hamand officiating.
