He was married to Mary Sutherland, July 4, 1879. One son was born to them but death soon claimed both mother and child. On September 9, 1882, he was married to Minerva Alexander, who survives him. To this union were born 4 children, twin girls, Lucy and Laura, Frank and Bruce, all of whom died in infancy except Frank, who is now a young man of 18 years, the soul comfort and dependence of his widowed mother. The deceased joined the Christian church in 1900. Knowing for many weeks that death was inevitable in a short time, he calmly spoke of its approach and expressed a willingness to go, giving much thought to the future welfare of his wife and son. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Layton at the Christian church where assembled a large congregation of relatives and friends, a great number of whom followed the remains in its last resting place in the Brick cemetery. The family feel very grateful for the many kindnesses and unfailing help and sympathy of friends and nieghbors throughout the months of wasting sickness of the husband and father.
