Her parents moved from Butler County, Ohio, to Clark County, Ill., in 1850, while but eight years old. She was converted and united with the United Brethren Church at Shiloh, in Dolson township when 16 years old, to which church she has been a faithful member until the date of her death, or for a period of more than 62 years. She was always faithful and loyal to her church, yet she was broad in her church views and in the fellowship of Christians. As a matter of convenience she had been an attendant at the Methodist church and Sunday School of this city for some time. Her Sunday School class of the church attended the funeral as a body, thereby showing the respect and esteem in which she was held by them. While she never reared a family of her own, yet in a very affectionate and motherly way, she ministered to many others with a genuine spirit of love characteristic of a true faithful and loving mother. Including those in whom she was a real mother are Lyman Snyder of Paris, Ill, Charles Flenner of Shelbyville, Ill, Scottt Flenner, Mrs. Eva Nay, deceased, Dr. Ernest O. Nay of Boston, Mass, and Bernard Nay of Marshall. After the birth of the two last named, and the death of their mother, Mrs. Nay, she toiled very sacrificially rearing and educating these nephews, as their mother would have done. She was very happy in the exercise of this beautiful spirit of benevolence that characterized this great woman, and the memories of few mothers, if any, will be held more sacredly and cherished more fondly than is hers by those above mentioned. Other surviving relatives are: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ross of Marshall, Mrs. Vanida Cook of Dolson township and one brother, W. F. Flenner of Martinsville. Many other relatives and friends mourn the decease of a loving aunt and friend. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/il/clark/obits/f/mflenner.txt File size: 2 Kb
