Obituary of Thomas Jefferson Francis

April 1919, Clark County (IL) Democrat


Thomas Jefferson Francis was born February 17, 1835 and died April
26, 1919 at his home in Melrose township aged 84 years, 2 months,
and 9 days.  He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas and was
born in Athens county Ohio. In March, 1863, he was married to
Elizabeth Bozman of McConnelsville Ohio.  The moved to Sullivan
county, Indian, and stayed there a short while, moving from there to
Clark county, where his eldest son, William Forrest was born, in
1865.  This son died just one year ago, April 26, 1918.  After
residing in Illinois for a few years, the moved to Grundy county,
Mo., where his companion died, Oct. 10, 1869. He was later married
to Francis Hudson, nee Edwards, who preceded him in death January
13, 1910.  Five children were born to this union, all of whom
survive him except one daughter, Emma, who died August 14, 1896. The
deceased united with the M. E. Church at Wesley Chapel 55 years ago
last winter and never affiliated with any other church.  After
residing in Missouri for more than 30 years, he removed to his last
home in Melrose township. Thee funeral services were held at Wesley
Chapel, conducted by Rev. Geo. Fusson of Indiana.
