N. and Louisa Gardner, was born in La Junta, Colo., July 29, 1903, and died at the home of her parents on Walnut Prairie, near West Union, Ill., July 25, 1905, age 1 year, 11 months and 26 days. Dear Margery you was lent for so short a time to bless and brighten the home to which God saw fit to send you but transplanted by His care you are now a fairer flower in Heavens field of fadelss bloom. And again on August 16, 1905, the death angel hovered over that home and another child was taken. Mable Etta, born November 20, 1899, aged 5 years, 7 months and 26 days. Called from the mists of sorrows and sighing to the beautiful sunlight of a glory world. The funeral sermon was preached at the church near the Brick cemetery by Rev. Warner and the remains were interred there. There was much of comfort in Rev. Warner's remarks as he pointed the mourners to the Lamb of God who was himself a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He referred to Lowell's saying, "That all the preaching since Adam will not make of death anything but death." and our hearts are made inexpressible sad when it enters our homes and it takes much christian fortitude to be able to say, "Lord not my will, but thine be done." Mable was of a sweet sunny disposition, finely developed physically, the well formed head and full prominent brow gave evidence of great possibility. If rightly directed for a good and useful life, ever ready to respond to calls of justice and mercy. But God in His wisdom saw fit to call her and in obedience to His commands, she has gone up higher. His service will be her delight walls her sojourn here will be to as but a weak and precious memory. The hand of affliction has certainly rested very heavily upon the family of Mr. Gardner as this is the third death in the last few weeks, as he was sick in bed with typhoid fever for some time and a son is also very sick with it. The neighbors and friends certainly sympathize with him in the many deaths ....to his family. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/il/clark/obits/g/mgardner.txt File size: 2 Kb
