When but a small child, he moved with his parents to Jasper County, Illinois. At the age of ten, the family moved to Marshall, Illinois, where he has ever since resided. He was married to Ammie Attwood, at Paris, Illinois, Nov. 24, 1886. They settled at Marshall and have lived there ever since. Mr. Highfill was well and favorable known to Marshall people having be engaged in business here nearly all his life. For two years being in the employ of the city as Street Commissioner. He was a member of the Court of Honor and the Knights of Pythias lodges. He joined the Marshall M. E. Church about 19 years ago under the pastorate of Rev. Thomas Tull. Two years ago in October, he laid to rest his father, and last October he preformed the same act of filiel piety for his mother, bearing the expense himself. At 7:35 the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 15, with a bit of song and prayer on his lips, he quietly passed into the presence of his reconciled Lord. He was 50 years, 9 months and 13 days of age. He leaves his wife and sister, Mrs. Cora Washburn of Marshall, as immediate relatives to mourn him and many friends and acquaintances.
