Obituary of James Clark Howerton  

May 1920, Clark County (IL) Democrat


James Clark Howerton son of Jackson and Angeline Howerton was born
in Melrose township Feb. 24, 1850 and departed this life may 16,
1920 age 70 years, 2 months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Thompson and to this union were
born nine children, five sons and four daughters, five of whom
precede him in death, leaving a wife and daughter, Linia Gibson of
Marshall, James of Peoria, Charles of Springfield, and Clay in the
U. S. Navy, together with seven half brothers ina and near Chanute,
Kansas, one sister, Mrs. laura Barker of Kansas, six grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Johnson of the residence and
burial was in the Medsker cemetery.
