Obituary of John W. Hutchison

John W. Hutchison was born June 30, 1855 and departed this life
May 19, 1904, aged 48 years, 10 months and 19 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary J. Taylor of Wabash
township, February 24, 1876.  To this union were born eight
children, two of them having preceded their father home to the
Spirit World.  He leaves a wife, six children, three sisters
and two brothers to mourn, but their loss is his eternal gain.
He professed faith in Christ in early life and united with the
Cumberland Presbyterian church then in after years united with
the Methodist Protestant church in Hatton, Ill, where he
remained a faithful Christian until death.  He will be greatly
missed by the church.  The deceased was ever ready to lend a
helping hand to a needy brother.  He was an honest,
industrious, faithful citizen, whose place will be hard to
fill.  He was well and widely known as an honest man, a kind
and obliging neighbor, and best of all a true Christian.  He
endured his affliction with all patience unto the end and said
that he was not afraid to die; that he was prepared and ready
to go when the Lord called him and on Thursday evening, May 19,
just as the sun went down his spirit took flight and went to
the presence of the great God and Christ to be forever with the
Lord.

The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Protestant
church at Hatton by the writer.  Interment at the family
cemetery, three miles east of Marshall.

Servant of God well done.  Thy glorious warfare's past; The
battle's fought, the race is won, and thou art crowned at last.
