DAVID KLINE OBITUARY
CLARK COUNTY HERALD
13-JULY-1886


   All our citizens knew Uncle Davy Kline.   He too has laid down in his last 
sleep.   We clip the following from the last issue of the Casey Banner.   
DIED---On Tuesday evening, July 6th, at the residence of his son, E.M.Kline, 
Esquire, of Casey, Illinois, Mr.  David Kline aged 85 years.
   The deceased was born in Lancaster County, Pa, in 1801 and in 1849 removed to 
Johnson Twp, Clark County, Illinois, with his family.   He has been a constant 
resident of this county ever since.   Some few years ago he purchased a forty 
acre farm in Marshall Township and resided there  until when his health failing, 
he came to this township, where he could be under the watchful care of his sons. 
The deceased had four children: William A., Edward M., Simon and Louisa.   The 
two latter living at Mattoon and the two former are residence of Casey township.
   Mr. David Kline was a man of unlimited energy and industry, his life being an 
illustration of what can be accomplished by perseverance and a strong 
determination to succeed.   He was the soul of honor, his word was as good as 
his bond or sealed contract and he lived faithfully and completely up to his 
obligation.   In disposition he was kind and charitable, of a peaceable and 
quiet nature, loving his family more than all else, and contented to peacefully 
live, fulfilling his duties to his family, his country and his God.   Such men 
are the models for the young men to copy and emulate in their career.
   His remains were taken to Marshall by Hearse, on Wednesday and buried at the 
Marshall Cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends and 
relatives.
