Deceased was converted in the 9th year of his life. He lived an active Christian life until he was about 14 years old and while he was not an active church worker in the last years of his life, yet he always loved to talk to his mother and others upon the subject of religion and had expressed his intention of renewing his covenant with Christ just the evening before his decease. He had a high regard for the Sabbath and always looked upon Sunday excursions, Sunday ball games etc, as great evils. He was an active Sunday School worker and always spent the Sabbath devotionally. He was a very kind and dutiful son and already in life manifested remarkable habits of industry and enterprise. He sought and moved only in the noblest circles of society. He leaves a father, mother, five sisters and many other relatives and friends to mourn the loss of one who was so cruelly cut down just when a life so full of promise was opening. The funeral was preached at the German church by Rev. S. O. Stoltz, assisted by Rev. P. F. Kettering. Intermant was in the Marshall cemetery.
