Obituary of Rhoda Quakenbush McDaniel


She died 28 April 1899, obituary found in family bible with no
source attached

On Saturday evening, Rev. T. C. Bailiff received a personal
message to go to Olive Branch Church to conduct the funeral of
Grandma McDanold (sp) of whom the following sketch:

Rhoda Quakenbush was born in Randolph county, North Carolina
September 21, 1809.  When sixteen years old she came with her
mother and  brother to Orange County, Indiana.  In 1829 she was
married to James McDanold.  The couple soon moved to Park
County, Indiana, where they resided until 1848, when they came
to Clark County, Illinois.  The husband died in 1859, leaving
our subject to care for a family of children, which she did
faithfully and well.  For the past seven years, Mrs. McDanold
has been sorely afflicted but she ever bore her suffering with
true Christian fortitude.  When death came to her relief, she
was ready for the summons as she had lived the life of a
faithful Christian.  She left five sons and a daughter and many
friends to mourn her death, but they have the assurance that if
they live as did she, they will be permitted to meet her where
partings are no more.
