She was born in Sullivan County, Indiana. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Lower Wabash where she spent the remainder of her life. On May 12, 1876 she was united in marriage with Wm. S. Pine whom she loved and cherished for over 53 years, hand in hand together. By toll and great perseverance they worked for the care and support of their family of 14 children, 8 girls and 6 boys, two of whom have preceded her in death, Nellie, during infancy and Daisy in 1905, leaving three little children, Gertie, Virgil, and Mabel, whom she took in her arms and mothered as her own. Besides the husband she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Flossie Craig of Marshall, Mrs. Flora Carty of Terre Haute, Mrs. Goldie Cox and Mrs. Edith Geisert of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Grace Snedeker of Dunlap vicinity, Mrs. Alma Tingley, Clarence, Ross, Clyde, Pete Fred, and Cliff of Lower Wabash, also 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, on brother, Rev. Bert Eckles of Marshall, whom she took into her home and also loved and mothered during his boyhood days; three sisters, Mrs. Lou Liffick of Grand Turn, Mrs. Nora Downey of West Terre Haute, and Mrs. Ida Wyrick of Kansas Station, and many other relatives and friends. During early girlhood and she gave her heart to God and united with the old Baptist church. Later with several of her children, under the pastor ship of Rev. D. H. Rupp, she united with the Cooper Chapel Church. Owing to home cares and failing health she has been unable to attend church services during late years. All through her life one of her chief thoughts was leading and guiding her family so they might go with her to her heavenly home, which was her last request. Although having ailed for many months, her great will power kept her going so she only had to keep her bed for one week. All that loving hands could do was done, but to no avail for God knows best in all things. She loved her home dearly and was a faithful companion, loving mother, and friend to all. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11:00 o’clock at the residence with Rev. W. H. Eirhart officiating. Interment in the Marshall cemetery.
