On April 8, 1864 he was married to Rachel Matlock of Jackson, Ind. To this union were born eleven children, nine of whom are living. He united with the M. E. church South in 1902 and lived a consistent member of the same until his death. His last words were "Glory to God. Thank God, He is taking me Home." he enlisted in the service of his country in Co. E, 23d Ind. in 1861, and he belonged to the G. A. R. Fears post No. 549, Department of Illinois, and will be greatly missed. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Dunlap chapel, G. A. Tunstill, P. C., officiating.
