He had been suffering with fever for about ten days but was not considered dangerous until Sunday morning, Aug 30, when the disease changed for the worse and he continued to sink until death came about one o'clock PM, Tuesday, Sept 1. Mr. Ryan was well known in nearly all parts of the county and in his own immediate neighborhood, where he was know best was held in high esteem. He was a faithful member of the U.B. Church and an earnest laborer in all good works. He was 46 years of age and was born and reared on the old homestead where he died. He leaves a wife, one child and numerous other relatives to mourn his loss. The funeral was held in the M.E. Church in Martinsville Thursday morning, Rev Broadstone officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Martinsville Cemetery. A large concourse of friends paid the last tribute of respect by attendance upon the funeral.
