Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Stanfield

5 February 1919, Clark County Democrat


Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Martha and Sampson Stanfield was
born in Melrose township, Clark County, Illinois, June 27, 1858
departed this life January 28, 1919, at her home near Melrose,
aged 60 years, 7 months, 1 day.  Her mother having died when
she was 7 years old, leaving her the care of the home and two
younger brothers, on an infant whom she raised to manhood and
an infant niece whom she cared for till she was called to the
better world at the age of 4 years, also a nephew whom she also
raised.  He having cared for her, during her last afflictions.
She is survived by two brothers, two nephews, one niece and
many other relatives and a host of friends.  She united with
the Mt. Olive Baptist church and was baptise in June 1917 by
Rev. Arthur Keller.
