Baylis Tyhurst From 26 July 1905, Clark County (IL) Herald Sarah A. Baylis was born Dec. 28, 1833, and was called home July 24, 1905, aged 71 years, 6 months and 26 days. She was married to John A. Tyhurst in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Dec. 7, 1852. To this union were born eight children, six of whom, with her companion, survive. They are Wm., George, Edward, Chas., Lothe, and Mary. Mrs. Tyhurst came with her husband from Newark, Ohio, to Illinois in 1856, and settled in the southern part of Clark county, where they lived until October 1904, when they moved to Martinsville. She was converted and united with the M. E. church at the age of 15 and for 56 years lived a faithful and consistent Christian. She was one of the charter members of the Zoar M. E. church. She had been an invalid for many years, during which time she was a great sufferer, but she bore all her suffering with patience. She often said, "It is God's will for me to suffer. I will do his will." Just the evening before the summons came for her to come up higher, she said to her loved ones--gathered at her bedside, "Oh, how I long to go home and be at rest with my Savior." She will be missed in the home circle but most of all by the companion, who had cared so tenderly for her in the long years of her affliction. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides those already mentioned, two sisters, 17 grandchildren, and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. I. Tharp, July 25, in the Willow Creek Presbyterian church. The interment was in the Willow Creek cemetery. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/il/clark/obits/t/satyhrst.txt File size: 2 Kb
