Obituary of William H. Thompson

Clark County (IL) Herald, 14 December 1904


Wm. H. Thompson, commonly known as "Uncle Billy," residing in
Marshall, died at his residence Sunday morning, Dec. 18, 1904,
aged nearly 75 years.  Our subject was born Dec. 22, 1830, on a
farm in Wabash township, and resided in Clark county all his
life.  On Sept. 2, 1852, he was married to Sarah C. Edgerston.
To this union was born fourteen children of whom eight are dead
and six living.  On Jan. 2nd, 1892, he was married to Miss
Viola Myles, his first wife having died several years before,
who now survives him.

About 12 years ago, Uncle Billy had a stroke of paralysis and
was very feeble from then until the day of his death.  The
funeral services were conducted at Livingston Tuesday morning,
Rev. Russell officiating.  Interment on the old home place.
