L. Wilhoit 30 August 1961, Martinsville (IL) Planet Doctor D. L. Wilhoit, 93, one of Martinsville's and Clark County's most respected men for the past 65 years is dead. The senior citizen of Martinsville passed away in his home last Friday about 12:45 p.m. Dr. Wilhoit achieved a record of human service equalled by few men in history. He served the Martinsville vicinity as a minister of medicine since 1896; 65 years of interrupted dedication. A graduate of Louisville, Kentucky Medical School, and a native son of the Kansas, Illinois vicinity, Doctor Wilhoit lived his life, except for those early years of training, in and around Martinsville. The deceased had been ailing, as do most persons of his age, and became very seriously ill only two days before his death. The body lay in state at the Greenwell Funeral Home where memorial services were observed Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Reverend James Canny presided over the rites and the body was entombed in the family mausoleum in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Mildred Misner of Chicago; one grand- daughter, Mrs. Shirley Veach of Martinsville and 2 great-grandchildren. Bearing the casket were: Wayne Medsker, O. R. Stanfield, Robert L. Wilkin, Summerhill Starks, Bernell Hills, Dwight Millis, Austin Sweet, and John Albert Macey.
