Dale V. Wilhoit, who had been an ordained minister for 60 years, died at 4 p.m. on March 23, 1987, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville. He lived in the 400 block of Sycamore, Collinsville. Age 77, he was born in Cole County, Ill., on Oct. 6, 1909, son of the late Everett and Jennie Bishop Wilhoit. One son, Tracy Wilhoit, and two brothers, Harold and Hugh Wilhoit, also preceded him in death. He graduated from Redmond High School near Paris, Ill., and in 1934, graduated from Johnson Bible college. He taught in the public school system for 18 years, started 10 congregations in the Midwest and served pastorates in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. He and his wife, Lillian Robinson Wilhoit, were married 54 years. Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Herr Funeral Home with burial in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Belleville. Memorials were requested to: Pioneer Bible Translators, Box 381030, Duncanville, Texas 75138-1030. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jim and Ernie Wilhoit; one daughter, Mrs. Rondal (Janice) Smith; five brothers, Glen, Kenneth, Castle, Verlin and Harold Wilhoit; two sisters, Doris Overton and Iris Sutton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. --------- From another source-- Dale V. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Hugh Wilhoit. Mr. Wilhoit was an ordained minister for 60 years, ministering in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. He had a leadership role in starting 10 congregations in the Midwest and taught in the public schools for 18 years. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville.
