He was brought up from childhood in Iowa, and later attended Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, from which he received the honorary degree of M. A. At the age of twenty-one he entered the employ of Reid, Murdoch and Fischer. When Reid, Murdoch and Co., incorporated, was Secretary; 1909, Vice-President; and since 1914 President of the company. He is a Director of the Merchants' Loan and Trust Company, and the City National Bank of Evanston, Ill. He is also a Director of the Presbyterian Hospital of Chicago, and the Evanston Hospital Association of Evanston. He is a member of the Commercial Club, the Chicago Club, the Evanston Country Club, the Evanston University Club and the Glenview Golf Club.
