In 1899 he organized the firm of Alfred L. Baker and Company, stock brokers; and in 1898-1900 was President of the Chicago Stock Exchange. He is Vice-President of the National City Bank and the Calumet and Chicago Canal and Dock Company; and a Director of the American Ship Building Company. He is a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Stock Exchange.
