Author: Mae Felts Herringshaw (1916)

  Bell, William White, Banker of 226 LaSalle Street, was born April 16, 1842, in
Sparta, Tenn. He was Captain of the Thirteenth Illinois Cavalry and Brevet Major
in the United States Volunteers during the Civil War. He organized the National
Bank of the Republic and was Cashier and a Director of the same.
