Death of Henry M. Abbott
Henry M. Abbot, formerly a resident of Oak Park and in the livery business near 
the corner of Marion street and North boulevard, died at his home near Elmhurst 
on Wednesday of last week.

Mr. Abbott was born in Le Rayeville, Bradford County, PA, April 1, 1868.  He 
came to Illinois in 1888 and traveled quite extensively for four years in the 
western part of the United States.  He was married to Sara A. Clapp, February 1, 
1892 and soon removed to Oak Park, where they made their home until failing 
health caused them to retire from business to the farm near Elmhurst.

For two and one-half years all that medical skill and loving hands could do were 
of no avail.  On December 15, 1909, he began to sink rapidly and with only a few 
words that it was all right with him, he passed quietly into that dreamless 
sleep that knoweth an awakening upon the other shore.

Although not a member of any church, there was no darkness in his life.  Funeral 
services were conducted on Friday at 10 o’clock by Rev. Robert Allingham, 
Congregational minister of Downers’ Grove.  The remains were taken to Graceland, 
Chicago, and the ashes will be buried in the family lot in York cemetery in 
fulfillment of the oft repeated request of the deceased.

He leaves to mourn his loss a widow, one sister, Mrs. Eva Ford of Le Raysville, 
PA., and a brother, Hiram Abbot.
