He was tall and commanding in appearance, always wore a long cut-away coat, mutton chop whiskers which in the early days were a bright red, but of late years white. While on the board, winter or summer, he always appeared with a straw hat. His operations were not large and he never appeared to be bothered or in a hurry, regardless of how excited the markets were. He was 63 years old and will be buried in Oakwoods tomorrow.
