Dr. Stone, of St. James' Episcopal Church, officiating. Mr. Chappell was 78 years old and a native of London. He leaves a widow and a daughter in Chicago and two brothers-Charles and Thomas-prominent civil engineers of Sheffield, England. He came to America when 20 years old. In 1868 he moved to Chicago and entered the firm of Bassett & Patterson, who were burned out at Clark and Washington streets in the great fire. Later Mr. Chappell went into business for himself at No. 66 Lake street, and up to his death was one of the largest plumbing contractors in the city.
