Collins, a retired wholesale grocer, died at the residence of Charles H. Coffin, 121 East Oak Street, Tuesday. Mr. Collins was born in Chicago, Aug. 21, 1942 near State and Lake streets. He answered the first call for volunteers on the opening of the civil war and was refused as being under age. He succeeded in enlisting, however, the following year, and served through the remainder of the war. He was for many years a member of the firm of Mirriam, Collins & Dexter, one of the first wholesale grocery houses to be established in the west.
