Services for Mrs. Mattie Quales Erickson, 73, of 1951 Schiller st., a Chicago 
resident all her life, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at 4138 North 
av. Mrs. Erickson, who died Monday in Lutheran Deaconess hospital, was the 
daughter of the late Dr. Niles E. Quales, founder of the Norwegian Old Peoples 
home at Norwood Park, who came to Chicago in 1859. Mrs. Erickson was second vice 
president of the home and national registrar of the Dames of the Loyal Legion of 
the United States. Surviving are her husband, Ernst A., retired piano 
manufacturer, and two daughters, Winnifrid and Carolyn.
