HAYMARKET VETERAN IS DEAD

Policeman Samuel Helgo Expires at Policlinic Hospital, Where He Recently Was 
Operated On

Samuel Helgo, 1638 North Fairfield avenue, who was suspended from the police 
force by Chief Steward about a month ago because of physical disability, died 
last night at the Policlinic hospital, where he recently was operated upon for 
hernia.  He was 50 years old and was secretary of the Haymarket Riot Veterans' 
association.  He was also a member of the Policemen's Benevolent Association and 
of the United Police association.  He left a widow and a son.  Helgo, until his 
suspension, was a license officer at the Irving Park station. His widow said he 
had brooded over his suspension and feared he would be discharged.
