Johnson died yesterday at 614 North May Street. He was 83 years old and came to Chicago from Denmark in 1856. For many years he was a captain on the great lakes. In 1898 the boat he was sailing capsized off the straits of Mackinaw and he was the only one saved. For the last few years Capt. Johnson had been engaged in the insurance business. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
