Lynch Fatally Hurt - Mad Impulse, says Companion Bert L. Lynch, 21 years old, of Chicago, drove an automobile over the edge of a stone quarry near Summit, and in the fall of seventy feet to the bottom of the stone pit received injuries which were fatal. John Joss, a chauffeur, the only other occupant of the car, escaped almost uninjured by grasping a post on the brink of the cliff and holding fast as the machine dashed over. In the leap through the air Lynch was thrown from the automobile and struck the stone floor a dozen feet from the machine. Following the accident Joss declared that Lynch had been seized by a mad impulse to drive the machine into the abyss. Suddenly he turned sharply to the left, crossed the tracks of a trolley line, drove through the weeds at the roadsie and through a board fence before he struggled to get possession of the steering gear and the brakes, but he says Lynch pushed him aside. The car belonged to an automobile company which had expected to sell the machine to Lynch.
