Chicago Tribune - February 22, 1923
Mrs. Ann Murphy, 93 years old, whose father is said to have built the first
house on Polk street west of the river, died at the house of her granddaughter,
Mrs. Robert P. Wilson, yesterday after after a short illness.  Mrs. Murphy came
to Chicago with her parents in 1836 and lived at the Wolf hotel, the first hotel
in the city, at Lake street and the river.
