Quinn Ex-Justice John S. Quinn is no more. He died of brain-fever at his residence, No. 634 Hubbard street, at 8:15 last evening. Mr. Quinn was an old citizen of, and, was widely known in Chicago. He had marked ability as a lawyer, but he was much given to social enjoyment, which somewhat retarded his success. John S. Quinn was a man of large heart, and would do almost anything to serve a friend. He would defend the most hopeless case without reward, or hope of rewards, if his kindly feelings were appealed to. He was fast gaining a position among the leading members of the bar when death struck him down. Mr. Quinn was entirely a self-made man. He came here from Ireland when quite a child, and had to battle with all the difficulties of a new country. He served an apprenticeship at almost every kind of honest business, until by dint of hard study and indomitable pluck, he got admitted to the bar of this city. In 1807 he ran for and was elected to the office of Police Magistrate in the North Division, which position he filled with credit during the two years of his service. He contracted his fatal illness about two weeks ago, and has been attended by some of our most prominent physicians, but no medical skill could save him. At the time of his demise he was 41 years and 3 months old. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his untimely death. The remains will be interred in Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday next. The funeral procession will leave Mr. Quinn's late residence at 11 o'clock in the forenoon.
