Emidio Rossi was the victim and Antilio Palestino the slayer. The manner of the tragedy was startling and horrifying. Rossi, who is 30 years old, was seated at supper in the dining room of his brother's house at 1625 Butler street, Chicago Heights, when Palestino crept up on a porch overlooking a window of the dining room. Through this window Palestino shot three times. The bullets struck Rossi in the back of the head, killing him instantly. Then Palestino fled. A. Rossi, the brother, told the police that Palestino was jealous of the attentions Emidio is said to have shown to Mrs. A. Rossi. The disappearance of the woman after the murder led the police to believe that she may have had knowledge of the affair.
