CHRISTIAN VOLZ Catherine Barbara Kuhn was born at Jugenhelm, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, August 16, 1846; came to America with her parents, who settled near Wheeling in 1852. She was married to Christian Volz, April 13, 1866, and they located at Arlington Heights in 1867. She was the mother of four sons and one daughter, three of whom, Albert F., Arthur G., and George K. Volz, survive, and have become prominent citizens. She has been ill several years, and totally blind two years. She died Dec. 2, 1902, aged 56 years, 3 months, 17 days. The funeral took place from her late home Friday, Rev. Hoffmeister, of who church she was a member, conducting the German service, and Rev. Reynolds the English. The remains were deposited in Arlington Heights Cemetery.
