Army Maj. Philip M. Werbiski, 32, the son of Mr.and Mrs. Michael A. Werbiski, 388 N. Hammes ave., Kankakee, was killed Tuesday in a helicopter crash. His parents said he was a member of the special forces, and was on his third tour of duty in southeast Asia. He held the Purple Heart and the bronze star medal. Army Pfc., Scott E. Wise, 20. the son of Mrs. Bonnie J. Wise, 5858 Sheridan rd. , died Sunday of wounds suffered during an enemy assault on his position in Viet Nam. He joined the army in September and was assigned to combat on July 8. The was graduated from Bloom Township High School in 1968. Surviving are his mother and a sister. Also killed in action were Staff Sgt. Denny R Lappin, the husband of Mrs. Renate Lappin of Chicago; Pfc. Lawrence H. Jackson of Gary; and Pfc. Odell Easley, the son of Otha Easley of North Chicago.
