H. FLESHER, merchant, Hutsonville. The father of this gentleman, Isaac Flesher, was a native of West Virginia, born in 1796. His occupation was that of a carpenter. For several years previous to his death, was High Sheriff of Jackson County. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. He died in 1841. His father was Andrew Flesher, of French descent, a native of Virginia and a soldier in the Revolutionary war. The mother of our subject was Elizabeth Bonnett, a native of Pennsylvania, born October 4, 1802, and died in March, 1880. William Bonnett, her father, was of German descent and a native of Pennsylvania; he was noted for his strength. H. H. Flesher was the youngest of eleven children born to his parents. He remained at home until he was twenty-one years of age, and attended the common schools of his native county. He first began farming, and continued the same about two years, and then engaged in boating on the river, commencing as second clerk, afterward pilot, and subsequently Captain and owner. He continued in this business until 1881, when he came to Hutsonville and embarked in the mercantile business, at which he is still actively engaged. In 1861, at Racine, Ohio, he married Miss Catherine Batey, a native of Racine, Ohio. He is Secretary of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Hutsonville, No. 106; is Town Clerk, and politically a Democrat.
