He then engaged in farming a short time. In 1882, he commenced his present business, in partnership with Griffith Brothers. His father, Joseph Guinnip, was born in Tompkins County, N. Y., December 14, 1814, where he remained till 1828, when his parents removed to Steuben County, N. Y. At the age of twenty-two he removed to Erie County, shortly after to Terre Haute, Ind. In 1840, he moved to Clark County, Ill.; bought a farm of eighty acres two miles north of Marshal and engaged in farming, which he has made a success, and owns a farm of 280 acres of choice improved lands, together with some valuable property in Marshal He was married in Seneca County, N. Y., to Miss Sabina Smeed, who died in September, 1856. He was married in Clark County to Ellen Crane, by whom he has seven children.
