LUTES, clothing merchant, Robinson, is a native of Indiana, and was born in Jacksonboro, December 23, 1850, and at the age of fifteen he entered the State University at Bloomington, remaining there three years. He took a commercial course in Bryant & Stratton's College at Louisville, Ky., from which he graduated. He then engaged in teaching school, and followed it in Indiana and Illinois. For one year he was engaged in the agricultural implement business, after which he opened a clothing house in Robinson, in which business he is still engaged. He has a large and lucrative trade and carries a heavy stock in his line, selling annually from $15,000 to $20,000 worth of goods. Mr. Lutes was married in 3874 to Miss Flora B. Harness. She died in 1876, leaving two children, one of whom, Maud, is still living. He was married a second time in 1881, to Miss Rosa Iddings.
