Palestine Reporter, 14 March 1907, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Crawford County Web Site McKibben School Closes The winter term of the Mckibben school, which has been taught by Mr. Esmer Funk, was brought to a successful close last Friday a dinner and exhibition being given to fittingly celebrate the occasion. A bounteous dinner was served, everything imaginable that is good to eat being supplied in abundance by the patrons of the school, a large number of whom were present. Twenty cakes graced the table and other edibles were supplied in like proportion. An exhibition was given by the pupils while Roy Winter and Elmer Steele of Duncanville, Will Conrad of the McKibben neighborhood and Esmer Funk. the teacher added greatly to the enjoyment of the occasion with guitar, mandolin, violin, and banjo music, and also selections rendered by Mr. Funk’s “graphaphone”. Mr. Funk expressed himself as highly pleased with the term’s work and pronounced the McKibben the best school he had ever taught. All present enjoyed the dinner and entertainment thoroly. It has not yet been decided who will teach the spring term at the McKibben. March 14, 1907 Palestine Reporter Uncle Alfred Correll and wife and Mrs Sophia Jordan went to Martinsville Thursday for the funeral of their sister, Mrs. Mary Foster. Physicians Meet Today The Crawford County Medical Society meets this afternoon at the Carnegie Library building in Robinson at 1:30 o’clock. The program for the afternoon is as follows: Office Treatment of the Diseases of Women, by Dr. E. M. Cooley. Discussion opened by Dr. T. N. Rafferty Hypertropical tonsils and Adenoids, Dr. C. H. Voorheis Discussion opened by Dr. Frank Dunham. The Microscope and the General Practioner Dr. J. A. Ikemire. Discussion opened by Dr Lyman Lowe. Drs. J. A. Ikemire and Dr. R. L. Gordon of this city and Dr.L. R. Illyes of Heathville, President of the county organization, are planning on being in attendance at the meeting. March 14, 1907 Palestine Reporter. Carrier E. P. Mills of route No. 5 informs us that the bridge on the range road just north of the residence of Mrs. Betty Truitt was in such condition as to render travel over it impossible Tuesday and as a result a detour of several miles was necessary on his part to serve his patrons.
