Obituary of Araminta Ann Holmes Burner, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Araminta Ann Holmes Burner   15 May 1907, Robinson (IL) Argus   Araminta Ann Holmes was born near Hebron, Licking county, on December 31, 1828, and departed this life May 4, 1907, aged 78 years, 4 months and 3 days.  With her parents, she removed to Crawford county in 1848. Four years later, on March 4, 1852, she was united in holy bonds of matrimony to Alva C. Burner, who preceded her to the tomb a little more than a year ago.  She had no children of her own, but Aunt Minta was a mother to eight motherless boys and girls, who pay loving tribute to her memory.  She was the fourth of a family of fifteen children, only four sisters and one brother survive her.   Early in her married life, she united with the Baptist church west of Hutsonville and remained a faithful member until God called her home. A life member of the Baptist Missionary Society, her efforts have been directed toward the uplifting of her fellow beings.  In her daily life was exemplified the highest type of Christian living.   Loved and revered by all who came within the sphere of her gentle influence.  She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. S. C. Besse, of Altamont, Ill., Mrs. Emmaline Kirk, Mrs. Salina Kirk and Mrs. Elizabeth Newlin, and one brother, A. S. Holmes of this county, who mourn the loss of a kind and loving sister, and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn a friend, companion and neighbor.   She has gone to her last long rest, Asleep in Jesus.  Obeying the command of the Angel of God, she has gone to receive the reward of the faithful, of the friend to the friendless, and the mother of the motherless.   Funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. L. Clemens at the family residence six miles northwest of Robinson at ten o'clock, May 6.  The remains were followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends to Mt. Pleasant cemetery where they were buried beside her husband. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
