York 11 April 1917, Robinson (IL) Argus   Aquilla A. York, was the son of Ezekiel and Hannah York, and was born near Robinson, Illinois, January 1st 1818.  He died at Palestine, Illinois, April 1st 1917, age 79 years, and three months.  He married Lavina Garrard in October 1865.  To this union was born seven children, three of whom proceeded him in death.  His wife died in April 1889, since which time he has made his home with his children. He united with the M. E. Church in Palestine a number of years ago. He leaves to mourn his loss, Everett York, of Lyons Miss, Mrs. J. A. Fuller of Robinson, Ill., Mrs. Effie Shears of Palestine, Ill., and Mrs. Harriet Reynolds, of Palestine, Ill.  Aquilla York enlisted at Palestine, Ill., August 9th 1862, in Co. D. 98th Illinois Regiment and was discharged at Springfield, Ill., July 6th, 1865.  In the latter part of October 1862, he was detailed to act with the pioneer corps connected with General Rosecranz headquarters, and acting in that capacity, he took part in the Battle of Stone River, thus being the first member of his company to be under fire.  In February 1863, he rejoined the Company at Murphreesboro, Tenn, and remained with them and participated in all the Battles from Hoovers Gap to Macon Georgia at the close of the war.  He was a good soldier and beloved by his comrads.  A short funeral service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon at his late residence in Palestine by the Rev. George R.
