Transcribed by Dan Weger. Arthur McCoy, 80, Dies Sunday (4/3/1978) Arthur C. McCoy, 80, 506 W. Main Street, Robinson, died at 11:06 a.m. Saturday while a patient at Crawford Memorial Hospital. He was born May 4, 1897 in Wabash County, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. A. McCoy. He attended and graduated from the Mt. Carmel schools and was a graduate of McKendree College, Lebanon. He worked as a clerk in the Charles Olwin Shoe Store at Mt. Carmel, later founding his own store and eventually forming a chain of McCoy Shoe Stores in Robinson, Salem, Paris and Jacksonville, and Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a member and past president of the Robinson Chamber of Commerce, served for nine years on the Robinson High School board during the time the gymnasium was built, was a Marine veteran of World War I, member and past commander of the Ernest M. Coulter American Legion Post No. 69 of Robinson, First United Methodist Church of Robinson, executive secretary of the Robinson Cemetery Association, member of the Robinson BPO Elks Lodge No. 1188, member and past president of the Robinson Rotary Club, chairman of the board of directors of the First Robinson Savings and Loan, past director of the Crawford County State Bank of Robinson and member of the Christian Men's Fellowship. He married the former Bernice Herod in Robinson June 15, 1922, who survives along with two brothers, Robert McCoy, Lawrence, Kan., and Richard McCoy, Largo, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Quist, Essex, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Robinson with Rev. Judson Souers pastor and Rev. L. B. Walkington officiating.
