Obituary of Annie Waite Poulter, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Annie Waite Poulter          30 July 1914, Kansas (IL) Journal   Annie Waite was born in Hampshire, England, March 18, 1837.  Died in Kansas, Illinois, July 25, 1914.  Age 77 years, 4 months and 7 days.   She was the next youngest child of a family of nine children born to William and Mary Waite.  Her parents were devout Protestent Methodist and very sincere Christians.  She came with her family when a very small child and settled on the farm now owned by Samuel Redden, three and one-half miles southwest of Kansas.   At an early age, she united with the Christian church, then located at Walnut Grove, four miles southeast of Kansas.   She was united in marriage by Elder Peter K. Honn, to Harrison Poulter, August 13th, 1856 and continued to live in Kansas Township most of the time until her husband's death.  A few years was spent in Missouri and some at Charleston, Ill.  Two this union four children were born, Lovina B., John H, Mary and Elmer.  John H. of Texas and Mrs. Mary Lee of Charleston, Ill., survive and were at their mother's bedside at the time of her death.   Her husband preceded her in death May 30th, 1894, since that time, Aunt Annie has lived in Kansas.   Her life is an open book to us.  She was known for her sincere Christian spirit and charity to all.  The church was uppermost of all her thoughts and deeds, and service to God her great consolation.  She had unbounded Faith in all of Christ's promises and lived a true Christian.  Her example will abide with her children, relatives, friends, and the entire community.   The funeral was conducted at the Christian church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. E. H. Reed, assisted by Rev. R. S. McCown.
