Obituary of Bessie Geneva WILLIAMS, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Obituary of Bessie Geneva Williams Bessie Geneva Williams, daughter of James Thomas and Sarah Estella Williams, was born December 9th, 1888 in Eaton, which has always been her home. She received her education in the rural schools, also attending Charleston Teacher's College where she did extensive reading and educational courses. At the age of seventeen her teaching experience began, teaching in the rural schools near her home community. They were in Grofe, Porterville, Burner, and the three Barlow schools. She spent twenty-six years of useful service helping to train children for their life's work. In August 1909 she became a member of Crawford Chapter number 638, Order of Easter Star, in Eaton. She was loved by all and she was a very true friend to all. Those who survive her are her sister, Mrs. Edgar Poorman, Woodlawn, Illinois, two brothers, Edgar Williams of Union and Harry Williams of Eaton, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, five nieces, two nephews and many other relatives and friends. She changed this life for the other June 20th, 1949, being this time 60 years, 6 months and __ days of age.
