Obituary of Ellen Baker, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Jim Admire Note: I have no connection to this family. I'm just posting an Obit that was sent to me by Barbara Dix who is transcribing old news articles for the website. This community was greatly shocked last Monday afternoon when it was informed that Mrs. J. N. Baker had suddenly passed away. She had afflected for sometime with heart trouble but at the time of her death considerably better. Monday afternoon she, and her little grandson, had left the house a short distance when she died. Ellen, daughter of Alfred and Sarah Guyer was born Feb. 4th, 1851, passed from this life April 28th, 1924, aged 73 years, 2 months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to John Newton Baker Nov. 5th, 1874 and to this union were born three children, Ed. and Mrs. Enola Robinson both of Bixby Okla., and one child dying in infancy. She is also survived by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Bruce Boyd of this place and Mrs. M. V. Whetzell of Long Beach, Calf. and one grandchild, Hugh Robinson, besides a host of other relatves and friends. She was converted and united with the Friends Church at the age of 19 years, and later united with the Hutsonville Baptist Church about the year 1877 and ever after lived a Christian life, holding in high esteem her Lord and Master. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at two o'clockconducted by Rev. T. J.
