Obituary of Miss Elsie CARTER, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Crawford County Web Site Miss Elsie Carter Dies Suddenly Miss Elsie Carter, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Carter who removed here recently from Bogota, Jasper County, and were residing temporarily in the Mrs. H. H. Haskett dwelling on Grand Prairie St., died about 8 a.m., Friday as the result of an attack of inflamation of the bowels. Miss Elsie was 14 years of age and was born at Bogota where she had resided all her life until her removal to Palestine some 2 months ago. She has always enjoyed the best of health and when she was taken ill Monday of last week with what seemed nothing but a cold, no anxiety was felt by her parents. By Wed. however, her condition was such that a physician was summoned and by Thursday it was apparent a little chance of recovery remained and the end came early Friday morning. Miss Elsie is survived by both parents and 2 younger brothers. The body was prepared for burial Friday by undertaker Fife and the remains were taken to Bogota Sat. morning. The family accompanying them. The funeral was conducted Sunday at the Baptist by Rev. Bert Fuson and interment was in the Tate Cemetery at that place. The death was rendered very sad on the account of the fact that Miss Elsie had never been reconciled to her new home but had always desired to return to Bogota as in fact, had all th! e members of the family. Mr. Carter returned here Monday night and will probably arrange to dispose of his interest in the livery business of Wright and Carter to Mr. J. L. Wright and return to reside in the future. 1-31-1907 Palestine Reporter *************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
