ED McDANIEL, 67 DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS RESIDENCE Heart Attack Proves Fatal As Well Known Citizen Is Seated In Chair A sudden heart attack caused the death Thursday morning of Edward McDaniel, 67, one of Palestine's older and most respected citizens. While Mr. McDaniel had not been feeling well for about ten days, his death came as a shock to his many friends in this community. His son, Harry, who lives at home, left Mr. McDaniel Thursday morning, apparent in "better" condition and came to Palestine for medicine for his father. When he returned, his father was dead in the chair where he had been setting. Coronary thrombosis was given as the cause of death. On Wednesday, the day before his death, Mr. McDaniel was in Palestine, and friends who asked him about his health knew that he was not feeling as well as he ordinarily did. It was believed that Mr. McDaniel died about 10:30 Thursday morning. He had apparently passed away peacefully in his chair. A familiar figure to Palestine citizens, Mr. McDaniel had been a resident of the community for practically all of his life. Born a few miles south of Palestine in LaMotte township, he died at his home just west of Palestine. His wife preceded him in death, having passed away Feb. 12, 1937. Nine children were born to Mr and Mrs. McDaniel, but seven of them preceded their parents in death. Surviving are Harry, at home, and Mrs -Yatsko, of Indianapolis, IN. One brother, John and a sister, Mrs. Alice Daugherty of Palestine also survive. A brother, Catlin and a sister Mrs. Emily White died some years ago. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Palestine Christian Church where Mr. McDaniel had been a member since 1894; having joined under the ministry of Rev. J. G. Tomlinson. Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery. OBITUARY Edward McDaniel, son of Calvin and Sarah Allen McDaniel. Was born May 9, 1872, in LaMotte Township, three miles south of Palestine, and passed away at his home west of Palestine Thursday morning, March 9 at 10:30. Mr. McDaniel was educated in the public schools of Palestine, and spent practically his entire life in the Palestine community. He was united in marriage with Climena White, July 4, 1896. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1937. To this union nine children were born seven of whom are dead. The living children are Mrs. A. M. Yatsko of Indianapolis and Harry McDaniel of Palestine. Besides the children there survive one brother, John McDaniel of Palestine, and one sister Mrs. Alice Mae Daugherty. One brother, Catlin McDaniel and one sister, Emily White died several years ago. Two grandchildren, Betty and Harold Yatsko of Indianapolis. also survive. Several nephews and nieces and a number of distant relatives also survive. He united with the Palestine Christian Church in Jan., 1894 under the ministry of the late Rev. J. G. Tomlinson. Mr. McDaniel followed farming as an occupation. His genial disposition won for him many friends in the Palestine community. He was a good husband, a kind father and a citizen who stood for the best in local and national government. He took an active interest in affairs of his home community. Grief over the passing of his wife in 1937, probably shortened his years. His love for his own home, his relatives there, and his devotion made him a character that will be greatly missed. Selected The funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Palestine Sunday afternoon, March 12, 1939, at 2 o'clock in charge of the minister, Dr. Don P. Hawkins. Music for the services was furnished by a male quartet. Interment was in the Palestine cemetery.
