FOX OBITUARY George Augustus Fox, son of the Rev. McKendree and Mary Fox, was born in Terre Haute Ind., April 22, 1853. His father was a local minister in the Methodist Episcopal church and Augustus, with their children received careful religious training. He united with the church of his parents early in life. In 1856 the family removed to Crawford. County Ill., where Augustus grew to the years of manhood While still a lad he was taken with a severe form of rheumatism which caused his intense suffering and left him in a semi-crippled condition. On Jan. 22, 86 he was united to Mrs. Hannah Loughery who proved a true help mate. She preceded him to the other world March 18, 1897. While still a young man Mr. Fox started in business and for more that thirty years he was connected with mercantile affairs of Palestine. About three years ago he renewed his covenant with God and again took upon himself the obligations of a Christian life. He earnestly desired to get well so that he might spend the remainder of his life in the active service of Christ, but he was submissive to the will of his Heavenly father. He fell asleep at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. C. W. Pifer, Aug. 30 1910 aged 57 years, 4 months and 8 days.
