Obituary of Corporal Glenn Edward QUICK, Crawford County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Elayne Newspaper and Date Unknown Corporal Glenn Edward Quick was born near Robinson, Illinois on February 10, 1916 and spent all of his life in this vicinity until he volunteered to serve in the Army and left Robinson with several of his young friends April 24, 1941. Glenn began his school career at Kirk School but attended most of his grades at Little Brick. He was graduated from the Robinson Township High School in 1936. During his four years at high school he participated in numerous activities, some of which were Future Farmers of America, football, and track. He was employed by The Ohio Oil Company at the Lincoln Refinery in 1938 and at the time of his enlistment was working in the maintenance department. Corporal Quick was with the 109th Infantry, 28th Division and received his training in various camps before leaving for overseas duty in October 1943. He received his basic training in Camp Croft, South Carolina, after which he was transferred to the following camps: Indiantown Gap, PA, Camp Livingston, LA, Camp Gordon Johnson, FL, and Camp Pickett, VA. Upon arriving overseas, he was stationed in Southern Wales and England and moved in France sometime in July 1944, where he was killed in active duty on August 7, 1944 and was interred in the U.S. Military Cemetery Le Cheve-Guerin located fourteen miles south of St. Lo, France until he was returned to the United States, arriving in Robinson on November 14, 1848. Funeral Services were held Sunday, November 14, 1848 at Kirk Chapel with the Rev. Carl Hall officiating. Burial was in Kirk Cemetery.
